fox and feather store Bristol

is it too late to mention festivals?

It seems that you can't go to a festival anymore without something painted on your face and/or something funny on your head. So, as I'm still not convinced about the merits of painting on your face, I am wholeheartedly supporting the 'wearing something on your head that you probably wouldn't do under any other circumstances' crew.

My favourites are:

Hoods!

I will be stocking these merrimaking hoods in the Fox and Feather store. They are the perfect festival accessory, but I reckon some folk will want them all season! I know you could probably make your own but why bother when the cost of the fabric would probably be more then this lovely lot are charging. There are based down in Brighton (no surprise there) and seem like a very nice bunch of people.

and...

Headdresses!

These are so beautiful I wish I could wear one every day. Though maybe I'll wait until I'm self-employed before I give it a go?  They are made by I Am Howling Wolf. They don't have a transactional website, or even particularly good images of what they create but if you are in need of a feather headdress (and let's be serious here, who isn't?) these are definitely the people to talk to.

Enjoy.

check out my sister's blog

Take a peek at my sister's blog Buttercup & Bird, especially if you are a crafty type! She makes the most beautiful Waldorf style dolls. She has 2 new ones up for sale at the moment and does custom orders too. I won't try to explain about the dolls, she can do that far better then me. Here is one she made recently...

something nice to put some nice things in

Today I just want to share this amazing leather clutch/folder/portfolio with you. It is so beautiful I won't bore you with any of my usual ramblings. Now all I need is an important meeting to go to and I'll have an excuse to buy it... oh and it's only £55 (it's from ASOS, but no-one will ever know)!

I swore I would never do this...

When I discovered this website I got so engrossed I dribbled baked bean juice on my lap top and it has never been quite the same again. However, that was about 6 months ago now and I feel I can't keep this shop a secret anymore. Forget ASOS, check out Pixie Market! I'm not sure why more people don't know about this online store. Maybe because, like me, any one who comes across it wants to keep it as their little style secret.

If I am re-incarnated I would like to be a coathanger in this store please. Thanking you....

who has all the nice underwear?

I really want to stock nice underwear in Fox and Feather. I don't want it to be fancy or expensive, just some pretty knickers and maybe some bandeau bra thingies. I am having a bit of trouble tracking any down. There are a few American brands I know about, but it would be good to find something a little closer to home. Anyone know of anything? Get in touch if you do!

Socks, however, is a different matter!  There are lots of lovely socks to be found. Tabio always come up trumps. They are Japanese (not very close to home I know...sorry), which is pretty obvious when you look at the crazy styling! Today I am loving socks and shoes. Here are a few of Tabio's best...

But can someone please tell me where to find nice PANTS!

necklines get sexy: bows and collars

The whole decorating your neck thing is a trend set to stay with us through to autumn. Bows and collars are still big news and the high street is doing it well. Yippee! Keeping it classic in black and white, I like...

ASOS are offering this cute little bow that fastens around any collar.

This lace top with collar is a TOPSHOP beauty.

And yes I know this is being worn as a head scarf, but it would work equally well as a pussy bow (that is the correct term...) If you haven't heard of Lowie, check out their gorgeous collection now. Especially if you are an admirer of all things crochet.

Just a reminder that this look can go wrong, especially if you are a hairy chinned man and forget your other clothes...

post-carnival blues beaten by bisciut boxes... somewhere to put your spare smarties

It was St Pauls Carnival in Bristol yesterday. I missed the parade but arrived with a plastic bottle full of home-made mojito at about 7pm ready for some dancin'. So, like the rest of the people of Bristol today was a bit of a right-off (as are my once white Nike Elite...) But two good things have happened today which I feel I must share with you:

1. The first of our tadpoles have turned into frogs! They are very small. We fed them some celebratory stale bread to welcome them to the world of legs.

2. I stumbled across the best ceramic boxes ever! They are actual biscuit size, slipcast in white earthenware and look just like the real thing, only instead of eating them you put stuff inside them. 'What could you possibly put inside?' you may ask. Well, I am a bit stumped to be honest. Maybe left-over smarties?

Ceramic biscuits are available from Robert Archard. He has other stuff too which is equally good and funny.

Suggestions of what to put in these sweet boxes gratefully received...then I might justify buying one.
